Sarawak Malaysia My Second Home (S-MM2H) is a state-specific long-term visa scheme designed for foreigners and retirees who want to spend significant time in the Malaysian state of Sarawak.

S-MM2H, launched as an expansion of the national MM2H program, provides those who value Sarawak's rich cultural legacy, abundant biodiversity, and laid-back lifestyle with special advantages and more freedom. Participants in the program can enjoy:

ITEMS
Visa Period 5 + 5 years and renewable upon expiry
For renewal, the existing participants have still adhered to existing requirements.
Age Requirement 30 years old and above
Minimum Residency Requirement At least 30 days per year for principal only
Dependent Spouse, children under 21 years old, and parents (yearly social pass)
Offshore Income Requirement RM10,000 (Individual) per month
RM15,000 (Dependent) per month

Fixed Deposit Placement RM500,000 Fixed Deposit placement in Sarawak Local Bank

Allowed to withdraw 50% of FD placement after one (1) year to purchase residential property, car, medical and children education expenses in Sarawak
Property Purchase (Not Mandatory) The approved participant is allowed to purchase a residential house in Sarawak with the minimum purchase price of RM600,000 (Kuching Division) and RM500,000 (other Divisions) subject to the policy.

The property cannot be resold within 5 years
Business, Investment and Employment All S-MM2H participants are not allowed to work as full-time, but are allowed to work as part-timers in professional jobs sectors approved by the state government and the total working hours must not exceed 20 hours per week.

Professional sector: Education, Banking/Securities, Manufacturing and Medical. Allowed to be "sleeping partner" in Joint- venture (JV) business with local partner in sectors approved by the state government. S-MM2H participants must own a minimum of 49% of the total paid-up capital of RM250,000

Minimum Stay

Financial Requirements

A fixed deposit of RM500,000 in a Sarawak bank; AND

Latest 3 months Bank Statements of:

Medical Requirements

Yes. All applicants and adult dependents must complete a medical exam within Sarawak using the official form.

You may not actively manage or operate a business, but passive investment (up to 49% ownership) is permitted.

No. You must obtain separate permits (For example: Premium Visa Programme, Employment Pass or federal MM2H - Platinum Category) approval to work or invest actively in Peninsular Malaysia legally.
Education

Yes. Children enrolled in any school in Sarawak must obtain a Student Pass even if they are dependents.
Yes, but they must apply for a separate Student Pass through the school in Peninsular Malaysia.
Yes, but the dependent pass only covers Sarawak. The Student Pass must be valid for studies in Peninsular Malaysia.

Renewal

The visa is valid for 5 years, renewable once for a total of 10 years.

Submit a renewal application at the Sarawak Immigration office with:

  • Proof of continued financial compliance
  • Proof of a minimum 30-day stay per year
  • Updated insurance
  • Medical report, if requested
No. You must reapply as a new applicant after 10 years.
You must transfer the visa endorsement to your new passport at Immigration.
Cancellation
Submit a formal request to MTCP or Sarawak Immigration. Upon approval, you will receive clearance to withdraw your fixed deposit.
Once cancellation is approved, the lien is removed and the deposit (plus any interest) is returned in full, minus any withdrawals.

Others
No. You must apply separately for federal MM2H. There is no automatic conversion between the two programs.
