Premier Visa Programme: RM4 mil deposits involving 2,000 applicants received

A total of RM4 million in deposits for the Malaysia Premier Visa Programme (PVIP) has been received since 1 October, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin has said, involving 2,000 applicants out of 10,300 applications received so far. He noted PVIP is being rolled out in phases, with only 20,000 places open to eligible participants in phase one.

Hamzah said all PVIP applications go through a detailed vetting process, including cooperation with Interpol to verify applicants' backgrounds and check for any criminal history in their home countries — a process he said takes time given the scrutiny involved.
