Tech giants to extend investments in M’sia, says Anwar

Tech giants Google, Enovix Corporation, Microsoft and TikTok will significantly expand their investments in Malaysia, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has said, following a series of meetings held during his visit to San Francisco.
"A stable political system and clear policies are among the important factors for them to invest in Malaysia. The approval process will also give them confidence. The speed of the presence of new investors will give Malaysia a new record," — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, speaking to Malaysian reporters after the meetings
Anwar met with Google president and chief investment officer Ruth Porat, Enovix chief operating officer Ajay Marathe, Microsoft Asia president Ahmed Mazhari, and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew — companies based in the San Francisco Bay Area, home to many of the world's most innovative Fortune 500 firms in AI, biotech, software, clean technology and social media. He also received a courtesy call from TPG founding partner, executive chairman and director Jim Coulter, of the global alternative asset manager.
Anwar, who also holds the finance portfolio, arrived in San Francisco on Monday, 13 November, for the 30th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (14-17 November) — his first as Malaysia's prime minister. Also present at the meetings were Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil, Malaysia's US ambassador Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, and other senior government officials.
